Our flagship residential courses are for cohorts of pre-university students (ages 13-18), and university students (ages 18+) from around the world. Each group of participants live, learn and dine in a college setting and are taught by dedicated educators. Come join us!
Led by our directors who are residents of Hawai'i and the UK, this course is a very exclusive course focused on Earth, Space, and Marine Sciences. Students will study the creation of islands in the Pacific, island cultures, traditional agricultural practices, Climate Change, and the space industry. The first session is held from 7 December to 18 December 2025.
Each applicant must submit an application and an essay answering one question from our Hawai'i Essay Contest Guidelines package (questions centre on Earth Science, Marine Ecosystems, Space, or Cultural Anthropology) .
Those applicants who are accepted onto the course based on their essay score and application are offered scholarships to lower the cost of the course.
Our planet is experiencing unprecedented challenges in terms of climate change and anthropogenic influences on land, ocean, and space. The Hawaiian Islands are very unique and applicable settings for the study of earth science, marine ecosystems, and space.
The beauty of the islands is undisputed and students will live, learn and socialise in a fantastic setting in a protected campground in Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. The rooms are in secure buildings (2-4 to a room in bunkbeds), with modern showers and bathrooms. Room and board is included, as are all activities fees, and the shuttle pick up service from the airport in Hilo.

The Earth Sciences faculty are experts in studying volcanoes, land systems, agricultural systems, and weather and climate. Marine ecology experts from the University of Hawai'i are also on the staff, and the space applications course is led by a former NASA official.

In the past, we taught a cohort of students from Argentina how to analyse the 'business of football' with trips to Arsenal Football Club and Chelsea Football Club. You will research a 'problem,' come up with a solution, write and present a business plan in this course.

This course is for students interested in working for museums and pursuing anthropology and archaeology as an academic discipline. Students learn how to interpret archaeological excavations and to operate drones and interpret Geographic Information Systems in the context of discovering archaeological sites.
We have created a unique course taught by Oxford University Classics professors that challenge students to apply lessons from the ancient past to modern-day challenges in geopolitics. Students discuss major works in seminar-style settings facilitated by Oxford Tutors.
Study the Greats of English Literature in this intensive course where you will read the great poets of the past (Shelley, Byron, Milton), the plays of Shakespeare, as well as study modern English authors Henry James, HG Wells, Kipling, WH Auden, and Virginia Woolf. At Oxford, you will explore the gardens and colleges where The Inklings studied and taught as Oxford Dons. This course is usually paired with Creative Writing.

All students are assigned either a standard twin room (share with one other student) or a standard single room in an Oxford College, with shared bathrooms among 3-4 students of the same gender. Upgrades to single ensuite rooms may be offered if available. Breakfast and dinner are provided in the College Dining Hall., and the chefs are sensitive to dietary needs of each student (information we collect when you register). Lunch is open to students as we find that students like to travel in groups and explore the city during lunch time.
Yes. Generally, we suggest that parents, family and friends allows students time to bond with classmates through the course, however, we do have times when visits are possible, namely during your graduation at the end of the course. The Oxford IQ Academy is also the only summer course to offer an Adults-Only course of one week that corresponds with Session Two.
Yes, we offer this service if students arrive the first day of the course (check-in day). We offer a shuttle service and guarantee the service to students travelling alone to the UK. Our #1 priority is the safety and well-being of our students.

This cohort ('Team Herodotus') is made up of a group of high-achieving scholars ages 16-18 from around the world.
Team Thucydides is a cohort of 16-18 year old high-achieving scholars from around the world.
Team Aristotle is a cohort of 13-15 year old high-achieving young scholars from around the world.
We believe that each student is unique, learns at a different pace, and has something unique to express. Each student is assigned to an OxIQ Tutor who guide them in completing a 'Scholar's Project' and advise them on applying to university.
Pre-university students who attend our two-week courses will be exposed to seminar-style breakout sessions during which our Tutors apply design thinking methods to encourage inclusive small-group projects.
The Oxford IQ Academy hires faculty from major universities to deliver lectures on key topics in a lecture hall. Students have the opportunity to ask questions. The lectures will form part of the seminar discussions.
In the real world, professionals work in collaborative teams to solve problems, create product or service lines, or create programmes for the public sector. Students learn to problem-solve and are taught valuable project management skills in small groups. Student groups present their projects at the end of the two-weeks.
Working with his or her assigned tutor, each student will work on a small-scale individual project or paper that demonstrates independent thought. A student can use the Scholar's Project in university applications.
Upon successful completion of the course, each student receives a certificate of achievement. We follow up at the end of the summer by sending students grade reports written by the tutors and instructors, and signed by the Programme Director.
At the Oxford IQ Preparatory Academy, we treat your children as if they were our own. Through our parent organisation, we are Affiliate Members of ROSPA and we have strict policies on protection of students, staff, and faculty at all times during our courses.
Each member of our of our team who teach, mentor, or interact with students on all of our courses must pass British Police requirements through the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
